FROST: How is it going, Raja? Thank You for taking the time to interview with us it is a pleasure.
Raja: Thank You! for having me.
FROST: For those who don’t know who you are, please introduce yourself to our readers?
Raja: My name is Raja, hip hop, RnB, and Pop artist. My background is Indian I was born and raised in New York, and I am dropping my first album Rebirth. The first big single off the album is Island Gyal featuring Tory Lanez. I love fashion I am a big “foodie,” and I love music.
FROST: Let’s get into this song Island Gyal. I honestly feel like it is one of the hottest songs out this summer. What inspired the song?
Raja: What inspired Island Gyal is that I love going on vacation. Every time I am on vacation I love hearing the Caribbean music it is always a good positive vibe, and an upbeat vibe. It makes me feel good makes me want to dance, I think of summertime, I am also a big fan of Tory Lanez’, music, and putting both together worked out.
FROST: What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not making music?
Raja: Shop, because fashion is something that feeds my brain it helps me deal with my mental illness Bipolar Disease, ADD, and ADHD. Fashion and music are who I am as a person.
FROST: The collaboration with Tory Lanez was a great idea. What were the intricacies in getting Tory on the song?
Raja: The Tory Lanez feature happened when I finished Island Gyal the record, and I left it open knowing that I was going to put someone on it. My team, management Avery Watson Ms. Artistry, MAE team said you know we think you should put Tory Lanez on it he would fit the record really good. The next day Tory was in an Instagram post with one of my boys from Brooklyn, shout out to Rose Rome. I asked him are you with Tory? He said yeah, I said can you play him my record? I really want to get him on it see what he thinks. Next thing I knew Tory was in Pennsylvania for a show, and I got the phone call that he was going to do the feature, so we met up at Quad Studios at 4’am in the morning and did the song right there on the spot.
FROST: Lastly, are there any shout-outs that you want to throw out there?
