Interview

FROST: How is it going, Walter? Thank You for taking the time to interview with us it is a pleasure.

Sang2em: Excited man! Everything is going well, things are coming together.

FROST: For those who don’t know who you are, please don’t make them wait any longer and introduce yourself.

Sang2em: Yo! I go by first name middle, Walter Devon upcoming artist out of Long Beach.

FROST: Now you just dropped a Vol. 1 EP “Sang2em,” and I have to say this body of work you put together is straight FIRE. Tell our readers what does it take to put out quality music?

Sang2em: Thank you! Much appreciated!  Hard work pretty much, long nights early mornings. In regards to what it takes for great quality it’s about having a great team who believe in your vision. It’s a lot that goes into putting a project together so that was very helpful to me having a solid team who all contributed. In regards to the process, it starts with a goal. My goal on this project was to capture a solid vibe and reintroduce myself to my audience. So from setting a goal, you take it from there and then move forward with track selection, writing, etc.

FROST: Is there a new project dropping? What can your fans expect from Walter Devon in the future?

Sang2em: I’m actually in the process of switching lanes a little bit, I’m working on a few singles, some will be uptempo, more current styles of music now, which will dictate the flow of the next project…so stay locked in with me.

FROST: What are your thoughts on the current state of R&B/Soul as a genre?

Sang2em: It’s definitely different…not in a bad way as I believe every generation has there time for certain vibes, but in regards to the music I grew up on listening to Tank, Jamie, Case, Avant, etc it’s not enough singing if you ask me, more rap singing if you will.. Being said I do think music has a way of coming full circle.

FROST: Do you see yourself staying in the realm of R&B/Soul or trying other genres in the future?

Sang2em: I love R&B I wouldn’t want to be boxed into a specific genre, I really just want to make timeless music…. so rather R&B/Pop I’m pretty open if it makes sense

Walter Devon

FROST: What is the secret to keeping your voice healthy and controlled? Would you recommend vocal coaching or anything else?

Sang2em: Vocal training Id say. You have to continue to work on perfecting your craft and learning new creative things about your skills.

FROST: What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not making music?

Sang2em: Play 2k…I’m kinda viscous…

FROST: If you had the opportunity to collaborate with any artist throughout the industry dead or alive who would it be and why?

Sang2em: Michael Jackson. The greatest to do it.

Walter Devon

FROST: If I were to go through your playlist right now, what 3 artists would I see in your most recently played list?

Sang2em: My guy Eric Bellinger, Tank, and Chris Brown.

FROST: What kind of advice can you give an artist trying to pursue a music career?

Sang2em: Keep grinding through the No’s…

FROST: Lastly, are there any shout-outs that you want to throw out there?

Sang2em: Shoutout to HitBangaz, Seantu and Big Yacc
